  • La Puente Skate Jam

    The Foundation hosted this Skate Jam event in May of 2023 in collaboration with Saved by Skateboarding—Pushin’ Forward, Pawnshop, DGK.

    This event served the local skate community by offering free skateboards and safety equipment to children and young adults that may have not had access otherwise. The event took place at the newly renovated skate park within La Puente Park, and skaters from La Puente, Chino, Pasadena, Monterey Park, Commerce, Baldwin Park, West Covina, Los Angeles, Ontario, Walnut, and Hacienda Heights all gathered to skate and participate in the event.

    Local schools were able to nominate students who have shown interest in skateboarding but may not have access to equipment to be able to receive them at this event.

  • Breakfast with a Bunny

    The Foundation hosted this Spring event in April of 2023, with the support of donations from Marie Calendars, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Trader Joe’s. Welcoming families and children of all ages, this event hosted a pancake breakfast as well as face painting and balloon twisting. There were arts and crafts and raffles for a large selection of prizes. Families were given the opportunity to each have a personal experience with our Spring Bunnies.

    This event sold out, and children were all given goodie bags to take home afterward.

  • Los Angeles Dodgers Neighborhood Camp

    In June of 2022, the Foundation partnered with the Los Angeles Dodgers to host the first-ever Dodgers Neighborhood Camp in the City of La Puente. The two-day evening camp hosted baseball and softball players ages 7 to 14, where participants received a jersey and other Dodger merchandise from the clinic. The Dodgers training staff coached and instructed 170 participants. Thanks to the La Puente Community Foundation, young athletes were able to create lasting memories.

  • July 3rd Event Beer Garden 2023

    The Foundation once again hosted its annual Beer Garden, this time including wine tasting. The event took place alongside the July 3rd fireworks and festivities. Parents got to sit back and relax while children enjoyed bouncy houses, giant Jenga, and giant Connect Four games. Alongside these activities, a family-friendly Paint and Sip was hosted where adults learned to paint a beautiful firework scenery, and children could paint a pre-outlined firework scenery.

    The family-friendly Paint and Sip was hosted by Erica Lujan. Michelada was served and sponsored by Baja Urban. The Beer and Wine garden was sponsored overall by Urban Global Strategies.

  • Jayson Gonzalez Baseball Clinic

    In December of 2021, the Foundation teamed up with professional baseball player, Jayson Gonzalez of the Chicago White Sox Organization, to host the first-ever baseball clinic on the newly renovated fields at La Puente Park. Over 100 youth from the community participated in the clinic. The participants received coaching from professional and collegiate-level players from the Chicago White Sox, the University of Southern California, and California State University, Long Beach.

  • Skateboard Demonstration and Educational Workshop

    In June and July of 2022, the Foundation partnered with Sk8-Brd-Bus and Bizar World Bazar to provide professional skateboard demonstrations, educational workshops, and merchandise giveaways to the local skate community at the Ian C. Calderon Skate Park located at La Puente Park. Over 100 local skaters participated in the demonstrations and giveaway events and received skateboards, clothing, and other merchandise. These skate programs are continuous and currently available to the community.

  • Fall Senior Banquet

    In November 2022, through a generous donation by the Meta Housing Corporation to the La Puente Community Foundation, we were able to put on a Fall Senior Banquet at the local La Puente Senior Center. The dance floor was lively and residents enjoyed complimentary dinner and desserts.

  • Arbor Day Tree Planting

    In April of 2022, the Foundation partnered with Urban Forests Council, Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, California Coastal Conservancy, and West Coast Arborists. Over 75 volunteers of all ages worked together to plant 35 trees in the newly-renovated La Puente Park. In addition, trees were planted on Puente Ave. to beautify the west side of Bassett Highschool.

  • Los Angeles Galaxy Soccer Clinic

    In July of 2022, the Foundation partnered with the Los Angeles Galaxy Soccer Club to host the first soccer clinic at La Puente Park, open to youth ages 4 to 11. All 80 participants received coaching and instruction from Galaxy training staff. This clinic was a foundation for youth entering the La Puente City soccer leagues.

  • 3rd of July Event Beer Garden 2022

    The La Puente Community Foundation has partnered with the City of La Puente and local businesses to host the City’s first-ever Beer Garden in La Puente Park. Over 200 people attended the Beer Garden and enjoyed ice-cold beverages, delicious BBQ, and family-friendly games. The Foundation also partnered with six local food trucks for the event, where thousands of community members enjoyed the variety of available options.

  • Breathe Southern California Educational Workshops

    In July and August of 2022, the Foundation partnered with Breathe Southern California, a health and wellness educational non-profit organization, to provide educational workshops. These educational workshops taught attendees about common lung diseases, managing chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), and the benefits of non-toxic cleaning. Attending community members received free spirometry tests and non-toxic cleaning supplies.

  • Lunar New Year

    In January 2023, The City of La Puente and the La Puente Community Foundation collaborated to host a Lunar New Year event.

    This event served to show the community what occurs in a Lunar New Year celebration. Entertainment consisted of Lion Dances, Pipa Solos, Chinese Folk Dance, Magic Shows, Arts and Crafts, Balloon and Face Paintings, and refreshments and snacks were served.

  • Dr. Martin Luther King Storytime and Crafts

    In January of 2023, the City of La Puente and the La Puente Community Foundation Collaborated to host this event.

    Children were able to enjoy arts and crafts as well as writing activities. Additionally, the Mayor read a book to the children, teaching them about Martin Luther King Jr and why we celebrate him.

    This event served to help educate the youth on the meaning behind Martin Luther King Jr Day, as well as provide them an opportunity to compose dreams of their own.

  • Mother's Day Fiesta

    In May of 2023, the Foundation hosted a Mother’s Day Fiesta with the support of Marie Calendars, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Trader Joe’s.

    This celebration included performances by Ballet Folkloirco under the direction of Ms. Esperanza Flores, as well as a special appearance from Mariachi Divas. Families came out to La Puente Park to enjoy taquito plate specials from our very own LP Grub snack bar, as well as raffles and prizes.

    This event served to create an opportunity for families to enjoy a meal close to home and within their community, without having to fight large crowds elsewhere. Mariachis took requests and were able to perform amongst attendees to make the event more enjoyable and memorable.

  • National Night Out

    In August 2023, the La Puente Community Foundation participated in National Night Out, an event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The Foundation hosted a booth that displayed its recent accomplishments, goals, and provided the public with general information. The opening of the LP Perk coffee shop was accounced and a raffle was held in which several items of Foundation merchandise were given away.

  • LP Perk Coffee Shop

    In August of 2023, the La Puente Community Foundation opened its very-own Coffee Shop, called LP Perk. The shop is located at the La Puente Park, on the corner of Temple Ave and Glendora Ave. All proceeds contribute towards the Foundation's support of the local La Puente Community.
