The La Puente Community Foundation exists to help create a stronger, healthier, and more connected community. Through funding, partnerships, and community involvement, we support programs and initiatives that enrich the lives of people in La Puente and the surrounding area. Our work is guided by a simple belief: when local organizations, volunteers, and supporters come together, we can create opportunities that help our community thrive.

Our Background

The La Puente Community Foundation received its 501(c)(3) determination in April 2021. The Foundation supports programs, partnerships, and opportunities that enhance quality of life for La Puente residents.

Our Purpose

The Foundation supports community-based programs that enhance quality of life and respond to the needs and interests of local residents. Our areas of support include:

  • Youth recreation, athletics, and education

  • Community wellness and enrichment

  • Senior recreation, education, and support services

  • Parks and public facility improvements

  • Cultural, literary, visual, and performing arts

  • Volunteer-led community events and programs

  • Partnerships that expand services and opportunities for the community

Why Our Work Matters

La Puente is home to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Our community includes young people discovering their potential, families building their futures, older adults seeking connection and support, artists sharing their creativity, and volunteers working to make a difference.

By investing in local programs and bringing people and organizations together, the Foundation helps turn community ideas into meaningful opportunities. These efforts create welcoming spaces, encourage learning and creativity, promote health and connection, and make La Puente an even better place to live.

How We Create an Impact

The Foundation works to identify opportunities that can make a meaningful difference in the community. We fulfill our purpose by:

• Providing funding for eligible community programs and initiatives, including youth sports, cultural celebrations, recreational programs, and senior-focused activities

• Building partnerships with local organizations, businesses, sponsors, and government agencies to bring additional resources and programming into La Puente

• Supporting events and projects powered by community volunteers

• Providing paid work experience and professional development opportunities for young adults ages 18–30 through our Workforce Development Program, including Food Manager training, resume development, and interview preparation

• Providing scholarship support to local students

• Encouraging charitable giving that benefits La Puente

Working Together for La Puente

Community progress is built through collaboration. The Foundation works with community partners, businesses, sponsors, and government agencies to bring additional resources and programming into La Puente.

We welcome opportunities to work with organizations whose programs align with our purpose and benefit the community. Partnership opportunities are reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Together, we can expand access to valuable programs, strengthen community connections, and create new possibilities for La Puente residents.

Recognition

In 2026, the La Puente Community Foundation was named a Nonprofit of the Year and recognized at the California State Capitol. This honor reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the La Puente community through meaningful programs, partnerships, and local investment. We are proud to share this recognition with the community members, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make our work possible.

The La Puente Community Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors committed to serving the community. Board members provide leadership and oversight, evaluate funding and partnership opportunities, and help ensure that the Foundation’s resources are used responsibly and meaningfully. Each member brings professional experience, local knowledge, and a shared commitment to La Puente.

Regular Meetings for the La Puente Community Foundation are held the third Wednesday of every month at La Puente City Hall, 15900 Main St, La Puente, CA 91744, at 10 A.M.

  • The La Puente Community Foundation hosts regular meetings on the third Wednesday of every month, but we may sometimes hold special meetings. Information regarding special meetings, including the date, time, and place, can be found posted on EVENTS or our BLOG.

  • Regular meetings are held the 15th of every month at La Puente City Hall, 15900 Main St, La Puente, CA 91744, at 10 A.M. If you wish to attend or submit public comment, you may attend at that time.

  • The Foundation’s agendas and minutes for its meetings can be found below, downloadable in PDF format.

    Agendas for regular meetings are posted 72 hours prior to a meeting. Agendas for special meetings are posted 24 hours prior.

  • All seats on the Board of Directors for the Foundation are occupied.

    Board Director is a volunteer position. If a seat becomes available on the Board, it will be posted here.

  • WHO CAN REQUEST DOCUMENTS?

    Any person may request to inspect or receive a copy of a public record (excluding records exempt from disclosure by law).

    When completing your request, be as specific as possible and provide a description of the record(s) being requested. Include information such as the project name, property address and type of record sought, along with the time period covering the requested record(s).

    WHEN WILL I RECEIVE A RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST?

    Under the law, the Foundation has ten days to determine whether the request seeks disclosable records in possession of the Foundation and under certain circumstances, the time for the Foundation to respond may be extended. In such a case, you will be notified with an estimate of the date disclosable records will be available.
